The 'Fedal Tour', Roger Federer's proposal for a veterans circuit alongside Nadal: "I know Rafa is open to playing tennis."

Many tennis fans still haven't let go of their retired idols. This same sentiment is echoed by Roger Federer , both the twenty-time Grand Slam winner who misses the sport and the businessman and promoter, who sees a future in a circuit of veteran tennis players alongside Rafa Nadal .

In an interview with NBC prior to the Laver Cup, the Swiss was asked about the possibility of creating a tour in which both he and Nadal, both now retired, would participate ; the Balearic native in 2024 and the Swiss in 2022.

"Yes, why not? I love Rafa . I played four hours of tennis in San Francisco, an hour and a half in Los Angeles the other day. I'm playing a lot to keep fit. I know Rafa is also open to playing tennis ," said the Swiss.

"Veterans circuit, it sounds horrible (laughs), but maybe we could create something like that, the 'Fedal' Tour ," he added.

Federer was the strongest supporter of the creation of the Laver Cup , an annual exhibition tournament that pits Europe against the Rest of the World over three days of competition.

"One of the reasons I created the Laver Cup is to celebrate the legends of the sport. We've already had a veterans' tournament, called the Champions Tour, but I'm sure there's a lot of appetite to see the legends . We can definitely take a look at that," Federer said.
